Hyderabad to Lahore by Sleeper Bus – My Eid Journey Begins
Published: 08/07/2026
Some trips are planned for months. Others happen in just a few minutes.
This trip was one of them.
Every year, when Eid comes close, bus stations, railway stations, and airports become full of people. Many Pakistanis travel back to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families. It is one of the busiest travel times of the year.
For me, things were a little different.
Since I work in my own city, I did not need to travel home for Eid. One day, I suddenly thought, “Why not celebrate Eid somewhere new this year?”
I shared the idea with my uncle, Dildar.
He smiled and said, “Let’s do it.”
That was all we needed.
In less than 30 minutes, our Eid plan was ready.
We decided to travel to northern Pakistan. We did not have a full plan. We only knew one thing.
We wanted to start the journey.

Looking for a Bus Ticket
Our first plan was to travel to Islamabad.
I opened different online booking websites and started searching for sleeper buses.
Every bus was full.
It was the Eid season, so getting a last-minute ticket was almost impossible.
For a few minutes, we might have to cancel the trip.
Then another idea came to mind.
“What if we go to Lahore first?”
That sounded like a good plan.
Without wasting more time, we booked two sleeper bus tickets from Hyderabad to Lahore.
Sometimes, when your first plan does not work, a better one is waiting for you.
Waiting at the Bus Terminal
Our bus was supposed to leave Hyderabad at 8:45 PM.
Like most travelers, we reached the terminal early.
We waited.
And waited.
The bus finally arrived around 9:30 PM.
Honestly, I was not surprised.
If you have traveled by bus in Pakistan, you already know that delays are quite common.
Around 10:00 PM, our journey finally started.
As the bus slowly left Hyderabad behind, I felt excited.
A new journey had begun.
My First Time on a Sleeper Bus
This was not a regular bus.
Inside, it had small sleeping cabins instead of normal seats.
One side had single beds.
The other side had double beds.
The cabins were built in two levels, so people could sleep comfortably during the long journey.
Everything looked clean and nice.
I thought this would be a relaxing trip.
But after a few minutes, I noticed one problem.
The air conditioner was cold.
It felt much colder than I expected.
I thought the bus staff would give every passenger a blanket.
But no blankets came.
I waited for some time.
Still nothing.
At that moment, I knew the night could become difficult.
Buying a Shawl at Moro
Our first stop was Moro.
The bus stopped for a short break.
As soon as I got off the bus, I looked around for a small shop.
Luckily, I found one.
The first thing I bought was a shawl.
It was not in my travel plan, but it became one of the best purchases of the trip.
After wrapping the shawl around myself, I finally felt comfortable.
Sometimes, a simple thing can save your whole journey.
Sleeping Through the Night
After leaving Moro, I lay down in my cabin.
The sound of the engine became softer.
The bus kept moving on the highway.
Slowly, I fell asleep.
I did not even notice how many cities we crossed during the night.
When I opened my eyes again, the bus was standing at Rohri.
It was around 4:30 in the morning.
Many passengers got off the bus for a few minutes.
Some stretched their legs.
Some bought tea.
Others simply enjoyed the cool morning air.
After about twenty minutes, everyone returned to the bus, and we continued our journey.

A Beautiful Morning in Punjab
After some more sleep, I woke up again.
This time, I looked outside the window.
The sun had just started to rise.
The sky looked beautiful.
We had entered Punjab.
Morning road trips always feel different.
The roads are quieter.
The air feels fresh.
Everything looks peaceful.
Watching the sunrise from the bus window was one of my favorite moments of the trip.
Breakfast Near Rahim Yar Khan
Around 6:30 AM, the bus stopped near the Rahim Yar Khan Bypass for breakfast.
Breakfast was included with our ticket.
We were served:
- Channay
- Paratha
- Halwa
Tea was not included, so passengers had to pay for it separately.
After traveling all night, the breakfast tasted really good.
It was simple, fresh, and enough to give us energy for the rest of the journey.

The View Outside the Window
After breakfast, everyone returned to the bus.
This was the part of the journey that I enjoyed the most.
I kept looking outside the window.
The scenery kept changing.
There were green fields everywhere.
Near Multan, I saw many mango orchards.
Later, around Khanewal, there were large farms filled with oranges and kinnow.
Small villages appeared every few minutes.
Farmers were already working in their fields.
Children could be seen riding bicycles on village roads.
Everything passed so quickly that it felt like watching a movie from my window.
This is one reason why I enjoy road trips more than flights.
When you travel by road, you get to see the real beauty of the country.
You notice small places that you would never see from an airplane.
Every Traveler Has a Story
There was also a Sindhi family traveling on the same bus.
Like us, they were going to celebrate Eid in Lahore.
Seeing another family from Sindh made me feel at home.
When our bus entered the motorway, I looked outside again.
There were cars, buses, trucks, and vans everywhere.
Hundreds of people were traveling on the same road.
Then one thought came to my mind.
Our bus had around forty passengers.
Every passenger had a different life.
Every passenger had a different reason for traveling.
Someone was going home.
Someone was going on vacation.
Someone was visiting family.
Someone might have been starting a new job.
Maybe someone was carrying happy memories.
Maybe someone was carrying sadness.
We were all traveling together.
But every person had a different story.
That is one of the beautiful things about travel.
You meet many people without knowing anything about them, yet for a few hours, you all share the same road.
